Gilded age
The Reconstruction age also known as the Gilded age was a time in American history where medicine was idealized and well respected. Along with an overwhelming amount of appreciation for medicine there was a great need for new discoveries. The amount of disease during this time had reached a peak due to how easily they could be spread. By this time certain bacterias learned how to survive even with the treatment and antibiotics provided. One of those diseases was cholera. Cholera was constantly spread from human to animal, most commonly chickens, and caused over 2,000 deaths in just a few months. Due to Pasteur's study of ‘Germ Theory’ people were given the knowledge about bacteria that they had not previously had and a cure for cholera was developed. There were more great accomplishments at the time but the most important thing to known about this time period was that it was a time for growth.
