Westward movement
Due to the movement westward Americans were exposed to the traditions of the Native Americans. The influence they had on Americans was very powerful the use of herbs as medicine became common. Along with the knowledge of Native American medicine was the import of foreign medicine and goods. At the time there was a lot of medicine being imported in from people arriving in America. Overall this time period was about blending medicine from different cultures to achieve the same thing-- good health for all.
