World WAr II and the 1950's
World War I was a time in American history that will never be forgotten. It was the first war that all nations were involved in. With the multitude of soldiers found there were lots of deaths and along with the deaths from battles there were many more from disease. Due to the poor housing conditions of the soldiers diseases had better chance of survival. This caused a large outbreak amongst the soldiers; The most common was hepatitis. The cases of hepatitis seem to come from one source, The yellow fever vaccine. The limited amount of needles soldiers had to share with their fellow comrades. The sharing of blood caused 5,000 soldiers to be infected during the first four months of World War II. Sadly, this period was not one of discovery, these soldiers that were infected were forced to endure the disease of a life time.
